What makes Kashmiri saffron different?
Kashmiri saffron is renowned for its deep crimson stigmas, intense aroma, rich golden colour and distinctive flavour. Grown in Kashmir’s unique high-altitude terroir and harvested during a brief annual flowering season, it is among the world’s most prized saffrons. Miresi selects whole Kashmiri Mongra strands, preserving their natural form, aroma and character from flower to jar.
How should I use Miresi Kashmiri saffron?
Gently crush a few strands and steep them in a little warm milk or water for 15–20 minutes to allow the saffron to bloom and release its natural colour, aroma and flavour. Add both the infused liquid and strands to milk, kahwa, rice dishes, kheer, desserts and more. Tip: Avoid boiling saffron directly—gentle warmth and time bring out its best.
How can I tell if my saffron is pure?
Look closely at the strands. Genuine saffron has a distinctive trumpet-like shape—broader and slightly flared at one end, tapering toward the other—rather than looking like uniformly thin, straight threads. When bloomed in warm liquid, it gradually releases a golden-yellow colour while the strands largely retain their form. Miresi uses whole crimson Mongra strands with no added colour and independently tests every batch for purity, so authenticity goes beyond appearance alone.
Why doesn't Miresi saffron colour the water instantly?
Because genuine saffron takes time to bloom. Its natural pigments are released gradually, turning warm water or milk a beautiful golden-yellow, rather than producing an instant burst of deep red colour. Miresi contains no added colours, so give the strands 15–20 minutes to naturally release their colour, aroma and flavour.
Is every batch lab tested?
Yes. Every batch is independently tested by reputed third-party European laboratories for quality and purity before packing, ensuring every jar meets Miresi’s exacting standards.
Why does Miresi Kashmiri saffron cost more than ordinary saffron?
Because genuine Kashmiri Mongra saffron is extraordinarily scarce—and almost every step is done by hand. Once a year, for only a few precious weeks, saffron crocuses bloom in the fields of Kashmir. The delicate flowers are hand-harvested in the early morning, traditionally before the day warms, helping protect the quality of the precious stigmas within. Each flower produces just three crimson stigmas. These are carefully separated by hand, dried and sorted to create the saffron strands that finally reach your jar. The yield is remarkably small: around 150,000 flowers can be required to produce just 1 kg of dried saffron. Miresi goes a step further. Our Kashmiri Mongra saffron is single-origin, carefully selected and independently tested by reputed third-party laboratories in the EU for quality and purity.* So when you choose Miresi, you're not simply paying for saffron. You're paying for a rare annual harvest, painstaking hand craftsmanship, authentic Kashmiri origin, purity, traceability and independently verified quality—without added colours or fillers.
